Receipt dated 1900 (A/4649-0) from Sydney Williams, Saddler. Original survey also has copy of a receipt c.1895 “Alfred Williams, Saddler & Harness Maker. Next to the Angel Hotel, 14 Cross Street, Abergavenny. Saddlery & Harness at Stores’ prices. Patronage respectfully solicited. The best workmanship only.”
During WW2, there was a doughnut bar for GI’s here, (part of the Angel Hotel) known as the American Donut Dugout- “sometimes a very wild place” (Mr Salter).
