About the Building
Probably a Victorian front because of the heavy rolled mouldings around the windows, although the windows could be late Georgian. (L Hurley). Had steps leading down to the town ditch. [Source: ALHS Survey 1980]

1913: A report of the sale of the property in the Western Mail in May gave a brief description of the premises – Frontage to Frogmore Street was reported to be 25ft. 9in. Other Information
2005: There was an article printed in the South Wales Argus reporting on the sixth Welsh Oyster Opening Competition to be held at the Llansantffraed Country House Hotel on Sunday, 12th September. The previous year’s winner was reported to be John Jenkins of Vin Sullivan, Abergavenny who won a prize package worth £1,000 including the opportunity to represent Wales at the World Championships in Ireland. Application forms were available from Richard Gafney at Vin Sullivan, 4 Frogmore Street.[Source: South Wales Argus 02/09/2005 p76].
1986: The Weekly Argus published an article expressing the concerns of John Sullivan (Vin Sullivan’s Fishmonger & Delicatessen) about the high cost charged by Monmouth District Council for traders to dispose of waste at Llanfoist tip in comparison to charges levied by Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen.[News and Weekly Argus 01/10/1986 p1].

1913: There was a Property Market report in the Western Mail in May stating that No.4 Frogmore Street had been sold to a Mr Morgan of Gilwern for £1,160. The property was reported to be in the occupation of Messrs Stead and Simpson for twenty one years from December 25th, 1899 at a rental of £60 per annum with the tenant responsible for paying the rates.
