About the Building
Probably Victorian. Built with no 24 and the Gazette office. Note the rounded dormer windows and the purple and grey slates making a pattern on the roof (L Hurley)

2013: MCC Planning No: DC/2013/00589. Alt. Ref. No: PP-02770592v1. Approval granted to Miss Vicki Horler for the installation of a fire escape in the courtyard area to the rear of the property. The stairwell was to be 3.8m in height, constructed from mild steel with a powder coat finish. Approval issued 04/09/2013.

Approval issued to Mr Frederick Alan Long 0n 02/06/1993. The Planning Permission included the following statements as part of the Reasons: 2. The approved rear extension to this property enabled the floorspace of these premises to extended considerably. Permission is granted solely on the basis that it is the re-use of an existing premises. The implementation of both permissions would result in the introduction of a substantially sized commercial premises which would be detrimental to the residential amenities of adjoining properties. 3. 1954: Mrs A. M. Heins of Abergavenny wrote a letter to the Western Mail titled ” An Idea for Hotel Keepers”. The letter related the experience of a party of tourists in Sweden who were waited on by girls dressed in national costume. Mrs Heins suggestion was that hotels in Wales should adopt the same practise and also suggested that Welsh airs should be played on the harp during dinner. [Western Mail 04/10/1954].
