1872 June 9: Mr James Straker founded the Auctioneer, Valuer, Land and Estate Agent business. In late 1898 William Chadwick (known as ‘Wm’) commenced his articles with Messrs Barber & Son from Wellington in Shropshire. In 1903, William Chadwick joined Mr Tomkins forming the business known as Tomkins & Chadwick in Frogmore Street. Mr James Straker joined the partnership in 1910 and in 1912 it was renamed J. Straker, Son & Chadwick. In 1947 William Chadwick’s sons, Reggie and Peter, joined the partnership, which was renamed J. Straker, Chadwick & Sons, the name that remains today. William Chadwick (William Chadwick’s grandson) joined the business in 1970, followd by Lyndon Trumper in 1989. The business has diversified since moving to Tiverton Place in 2019.
