1975-1980 P & O Travel, Travel Agents Office

1950-1968 used with no 55 as a telephone exchange, which moved there from the main post office. It moved in 1968 to the new Post Office and exchange in Castle Street with 1650 working lines. In 1950, there were 850 subscribers on manual equipment.

Occupied by troops in WW2 and a hut was built in the back garden for social activities.

1945 – 1950: Anna Amelia Hughes (nee Westlake) lived in the flat upstairs (J Patrick)
