Other information

The Burrow’s 1903 Official Handbook to Abergavenny includes an advertisement describing the establishment as the Imperial Commercial Temperance Hotel and Coffee Tavern. The advert includes “Omnibuses pass the door regularly. Accommodation with comfort and attention at Moderate Charges. Lock-up Cycle House.” The lock-up cycle house was behind Davies’ butcher’s shop on the other side of the street at no 9A.

Evan Jones, prop. 1884-1910, also provided refreshments in the Castle grounds to thousands of people.
